STI TESTING
SAFER SIX offers tests and treatment for sexually transmitted infections. Where possible, we’ll treat you at your first visit. However, not all infections can be diagnosed immediately – sometimes samples need to be sent off to laboratories and if we find any infection, we’ll contact you immediately to ask you to follow-up for treatment.

STI Testing (No Symptoms)
For people who want STI testing and have no symptoms (screening test).

STI Testing (Symptoms)
For people who want STI testing and have any symptoms that might be an STI.

STI treatment
For people needing STI treatment. If you were advised by someone at our clinic, or a recent partner that they have tested positive and you would also like to receive treatment (and testing), please select this appointment type.
​
Birth Control - New Start
For people who wish to start, or restart, any type of birth control including pills, IUD, rings, patches, injections, or implants.
To book an IUD insertion, you must first have this appointment.

Birth Control - Refill
For people who are already established on birth control and need a new prescription or for a birth control injection. If you already have an IUD and would like it replaced with a new one, use this appointment.

DoxyPEP
For people who would like to start DoxyPEP, which are antibiotics to prevent STIs. Not everyone is eligible for DoxyPEP. If you would like to clarify your eligibility prior to the appointment, please email us.

Follow up
ONLY for people who have attended Safer Six before and the doctor or nurse has asked that you come back (for treatment or other care).

Gender Affirming Hormones - Intake
For people who wish to discuss gender affirming hormones prescribed at Safer Six. Use this appointment if you’re a new client whether or not you are already taking hormones.

Gender Affirming Hormones - Follow Up
For people who have visited Safer Six previously for gender affirming care (ie. have already had an Intake appointment).
Genital Warts/Molluscum - New Patient
For people who have warts or molluscum that have not previously been treated at Safer Six.

Genital Warts/Molluscum - Follow Up
For people who have already been treated for warts or mulloscum at Safer Six.

HIV/Syphilis Rapid Testing Only ($35 fee)
For people who would like a rapid HIV and Syphilis test.
Please note that we have FREE HIV rapid tests available to take home at the clinic.
If you have a health card, a blood test for HIV and syphilis is FREE (results in 7-10 days). Book an “STI Testing” appointment for this test.
IUD Check
For people who have an IUD and need a 1 month check or for people having problems with their IUD.

IUD Insertion
For people needing an IUD insertion OR a removal and insertion of IUD.
The “Birth Control - New Start” appointment must have already been completed.
IUD Removal
For IUD removal only. For IUD removal and insertion, please book an “IUD Insertion” appointment.

Medical Abortion
For those wishing to discuss medical abortion. A prescription can usually be given on the day of the appointment, however, a medical assessment must be done first.

MPOX Vaccine
For people needing their first or second dose of MPox vaccine. Generally, MPox vaccines are offered to gay and bisexual men, including trans man, trans women, and sex workers. If you don’t fit into one of these categories, please discuss with your doctor or nurse. Visit Toronto Public Health for more information.

Nexplanon Insertion
For people needing a Nexplanon (arm implant) insertion OR a removal and insertion of Nexplanon.
The “Birth Control - New Start” appointment must have already been completed.
Nexplanon Removal
For Nexplanon (arm implant) removal only. For Nexplanon removal and insertion, please book "Nexplanon Insertion"” appointment.

Pap Smear Testing
For routine pap tests (cervical cancer screening) or follow up pap tests from previous abnormal results. You can also have an STI Test as part of this appointment.

PEP (Post-Exposure HIV Prophylaxis)
For those not on HIV PrEP who have had a high risk exposure (condomless anal or vaginal sex) within the last 72 hours.
PEP is urgent: if there are no appointments available, please call us. ​
​
PrEP (Pre-Exposure HIV Prophylaxis) - Get Started
For people want to start taking PrEP for HIV prevention. Book this if you are starting or restarting PrEP after some time off.

PrEP - Refill
For people already taking PrEP who need a prescription refill.​
​
Vaccine Appointment
For people who need a vaccine. We can offer free vaccines for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, HPV, MPOX vaccines to people who meet the eligibility requirements.
For Mpox Vaccines, please book an “Mpox Vaccine” appointment.
We can provide prescriptions for any vaccine (including HPV/Gardasil9) for people who are not eligible for free vaccines.
